Though its pedigree might suggest a horror film–it arrives with MAY’s Lucky McKee as one of its directors and THE GRUDGE writer Stephen Susco behind the script–RED is more of a thriller than a fright fest. The always watchable Brian Cox (L.I.E.) stars as Avery Allan Ludlow, a veteran of the Korean War who lives a lonely life in a small town. When a group of boys shoots his only friend–a 14-year-old dog named Red–Avery struggles to find retribution for their crime and his loss. Based on a novel by Jack Ketchum, RED also stars Tom Sizemore, Robert Englund, and Amanda Plummer.
